Bespoke FurnitureManufacturingNorfolk & UK-wide
Sofas, chairs, banquettes, headboards, joinery and one-off pieces designed with you or your designer and built by hand in our Norwich workshop.
Furniture built to your brief, not the catalogue
Bespoke manufacturing is where the workshop earns its name. Whether it's a curved reception desk for a boutique hotel, a set of dining chairs for a restaurant chain, a fluted headboard for a bedroom suite, or a one-off drawing-room sofa, we design and build it from scratch to the exact specification.
We work with interior designers, architects and fit-out contractors, and direct with hospitality operators and private clients. Around 90% of our output is commercial, so bespoke domestic work benefits from the same contract-grade materials, joinery and finishing techniques.
Every piece is designed for how it will actually be used: dining chair proportions to your table height, sofa depth for the room, headboard scale to the bed and wall. Off-the-shelf furniture optimises for warehouse and shipping; bespoke optimises for the room.
Why 'nearly right' furniture is expensive
The gap between the off-the-shelf piece that almost fits and the bespoke piece that actually fits is often small in price and huge in outcome. The wrong seat height ruins a dining experience. The wrong sofa depth makes a drawing room feel awkward. The wrong headboard scale makes a bedroom look under-designed.
The bigger problem is quality. Most furniture in the middle market is built for a five-year replacement cycle: foam collapses, joints fail, frames aren't repairable. Bespoke, built properly, is a 20-year asset with a 5-year reupholsterable outer layer.
Compromising on dimensions to fit an off-the-shelf piece into the wrong-shaped room
Buying to a warehouse's spec rather than the room's spec
Ignoring how the piece will be reupholsterable in future
Choosing a maker who doesn't manufacture in-house, meaning the frame and the upholstery are guessed at, not integrated
Simple to start. Precise to finish.
Brief & Concept
You (or your designer) share the concept, dimensions, mood and materials. We ask the right questions early.
Design & Free Quote
Sketches, dimensions and specification are worked up. Quote is free and itemised.
Prototype (where required)
For volume runs or complex geometry we prototype a single unit for sign-off before batch.
Manufacture
Frames, joinery, foam and upholstery all handled in our Norwich workshop by the same team.
Delivery & Install
Delivered and installed UK-wide. Guaranteed, with terms confirmed at time of order.
Concrete benefits, not brochure copy.
Fits the Room
Sized and proportioned to your space, not a warehouse pallet.
One Workshop, One Team
Design, frame, foam, upholstery and finish all under one roof, no supplier handoffs.
Contract-Grade By Default
Hardwood frames, CMHR foam, tested fabrics, built to last and be reupholstered.
Design Support
We can work from your designer's spec, or provide design support directly.
Prototype-First on Volume
Batch orders start with a signed-off prototype so you see exactly what arrives.
Reupholsterable Later
Because we built the frame, we can refurbish the piece for you years later.
What we make bespoke
Bespoke manufacturing covers most seating and joinery categories. Below is what we regularly build and how we approach each.
Seating, sofas, armchairs, dining chairs
Hardwood frames, corner-blocked and glued; CMHR foam for hospitality, feather-wrapped for domestic where wanted; deep-buttoned, fluted, plain or contemporary.
Fixed banquettes & booths
Templated on site, built in access-sized sections, joined seamlessly on install. See our banquette seating page for detail.
Beds, headboards & bedroom furniture
Bespoke sizes, tall-back and wall-fixed headboards, upholstered ottomans and end-of-bed benches.
Bespoke joinery
Reception desks, bar cladding, bespoke shelving and one-off cabinetry. We collaborate with joiners and finishers when the project scale calls for it.
Commercial vs domestic manufacture
Commercial work is built to Crib 5 in contract fabrics for public settings. Domestic work uses residential-weight fabrics, match and cigarette test compliant, and is built to the same craft standards.

Straight answers, before you enquire.
What can you make bespoke?+
Sofas, chairs, banquettes, headboards, beds, bespoke joinery, and one-off pieces. If it involves frame, foam, upholstery or joinery, we can quote it.
Can you work from a designer's drawings?+
Yes, much of our commercial work comes via interior designers, architects and fit-out contractors. We work from their specifications or provide design support directly.
Do you prototype before a batch order?+
For volume runs and complex geometry, yes, one prototype for sign-off before we commit to the batch.
What is the lead time?+
Depends on scope, fabric availability and prototype approvals. Confirmed at quote stage.
Can I supply the fabric?+
Yes, Customer's Own Material welcomed. Fire-retardancy responsibility for supplied fabrics stays with the client.
How much does bespoke cost vs off-the-shelf?+
Bespoke is often not dramatically more expensive than mid-market off-the-shelf, and lasts significantly longer. We quote free and itemised so you can compare like for like.
Do you deliver and install?+
Yes, UK-wide, using our own team.
Is the work guaranteed?+
Yes. Terms specific to your project are confirmed at time of order.
